Pakistan Women defeated West Indies Women to register their first win since the 2009 Women’s Cricket World Cup. The match was cut short to 20 overs per side due to the incessent rain for almost three hours.

Pak Women captain Bismah Maroof won the toss and opted to bowl first, citing the rain as a significant reason behind her decision.

Invited to bat first, West Indies Women looked clueless during their batting stint. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals due to an unneeded urgency displayed by their batters.

West Indies batters were rattled by the relentless Pakistani bowling attack, which kept persisting with suitable line and length.

Nida Dar was the pick of the bowlers; she dismissed four West Indian batters, including the dangerous Deandra Dottin and gave away only 10 runs in her quota of four overs.

Nida was well complimented by Anam Amin, who remained wicketless but gave away only 6 runs in the four overs she bowled. Amin also bowled an exceptional maiden over in the match that was converted into a T20 from 50 over.

West Indies could only manage a paltry 89 runs for the loss of wickets in 20 overs, ultimately setting up a meagre target of 90 runs for Pakistan Women.

Chasing 90, Pakistan never looked in trouble because Muneeba Ali, the opener, notched up 37 off 43 at the front to deny West Indies any chance of staking their claim.

Pakistan lost only two wickets and triumphed with 7 balls to spare. However, Pakistan still sits at the bottom of the table with 1 win in 5 matches, while West Indies retain their third position in the points table with 3 wins out of 6 games.
