IND vs AUS 3rd ODI: Virat Kohli’s Coach Highlights How Biggest Strengths Can Become Weaknesses, Calls for Tactical Change Ahead of Crucial ODI

As India and Australia Gear Up for the Decisive Match, Rajkumar Sharma Cautions Against Overreliance on Powerplay, Urges Flexibility in Approach to Counter Mitchell Starc.

Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, is renowned for his ability to spot the minute details in Kohli’s game. He analyzed how the batter was getting trapped leg before while trying to play the flick shot in the first two matches of India’s ongoing ODI series against Australia. Sharma’s recent comments on India News Sports revealed how Kohli’s go-to shot, the flick, has become his Achilles’ heel in the series.

Australia beat India by 10 wickets

Sharma pointed out how Kohli did all the hard work in the second ODI, seeing out the overs of Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green, but got trapped in front of the wicket by Nathan Ellis. The seasoned batter doesn’t often get dismissed in the same fashion twice, but it has happened this time around. As Sharma said, “At times, your biggest strength could become your weakness.”

The third ODI is of utmost importance, with the winner of the series having a psychological advantage when India and Australia square off at the World Cup. Sharma further suggested that India needs to change their approach of trying to accumulate some quick runs in the powerplay overs. The top order batters should counter the quality of the bowler they are facing, like Mitchell Starc.

With the series on the line, the third and final ODI is expected to be a high-octane affair at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, March 22. Kohli and his team will have to find a way to counter the Australian bowling attack to avoid a repeat of the embarrassing 10-wicket loss they suffered in the second ODI.
