Gujarat Titans registered a victory by 5 wickets against Chennai Super Kings in the inaugurating match of the tournament. Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill played the key roles in the victory for Gujarat Titans in today’s match.

Gujarat Titans won the toss and the skipper Hardik Pandya decided to bowl first. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway opened the innings for Chennai Super Kings but the latter could not last long as Mohammad Shami got the better of him.
Ruturaj Gaikwad played an unbelievable knock of 90 off 52 before he was caught out on long-on on a full toss delivery bowled by Alzarri Joseph. No other batter for CSK showed any resistance. MS Dhoni came out to bat at number eight and treated his fans with a six and a four in the final over of CSK’s inning. He walked back unbeaten on 14* off 7.
Rashid Khan was phenomenal with the bowl as he dismissed the dangerous English duo of Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes in the match. Moeen scored 23 off 17 while Stokes could only manage 7 off 6. The biggest disappointment for CSK in the batting was Shivam Dube who could only muster up 19 off 18 balls.
Chennai Super Kings ended their inning on 178/7 in the 20 overs.
GT Innings
Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha got Gujarat Titans rolling in the chase with great attacking approach. Shah scored a quickfire 25 off 16. Shubman Gill played the role of an anchor and ended with 63 off 36 in the match.
Rajvardhan Hangargekar was the pick of the bowler for CSK. The debutant dismissed Wriddhiman Saha, Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar. The match went to the wire but Rashid Khan smashed a six and a four on the last two deliveries of 19th over to almost seal the deal for Gujarat Titans.
Following this Rahul Tewatia smashed a six and a four on the first two balls of the 20th over to register the win for Gujarat Titans.

“So happy to get this crucial Man of the Match. Will give me a lot of the energy for the rest of the competition. I try to do my best in all three formats, and give it all in the practice sessions. The plan is hard to bowl to lefties, but the idea was to keep it tight and I knew in my mind that if I keep it simple and get two wickets, we will be back in the game. I knew if I kept it simple we will get the results. ( On batting improvement) It is all thanks to the time we spend in the nets, and the confidence given to me by the coaching staff and captain Hardik. I’ve been batting a lot and the results are there to see.”
