Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged victorious against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 6th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Moeen Ali received the Player of the Match award for his match winning all-round performance with both the bat and the ball.
CSK secured their first victory of the season by defeating LSG by a margin of 12 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed his second consecutive half-century and together with Devon Conway, he laid a strong foundation for CSK to post a massive total of 217 for 7 after being put in to bat. Later, Moeen Ali played a pivotal role with the ball, taking four wickets and helping Chennai Super Kings secure a 12-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants.

CSK had a great start to their innings with a magnificent performance from Ruturaj Gaikwad and opener Devon Conway. Gaikwad dominated the LSG bowlers and made batting appear effortless. After Gaikwad’s departure, the scoring rate slowed down, but cameos from Rayudu and Dhoni in the end helped CSK reach a massive total of 217/7 in their 20 overs.
Lucknow Super Giants were chasing a huge target of 218 set by Chennai Super Kings. KL Rahul and Kayel Mayers gave LSG a rapid start, but it was Mayers who stole the show with a quickfire fifty off just 21 balls. However, LSG failed to keep up the momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals, which eventually led to their downfall. Moeen Ali was the star of the show for CSK as he claimed four wickets to guide his team to a 12-run victory over LSG.
