IPL 2023 | PBKS vs RR: Tom Moody Suggests Kagiso Rabada as a Replacement for Nathan Ellis for the Upcoming Match

Former Australian player Tom Moody has recommended South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada as a direct replacement for Nathan Ellis in the upcoming match between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023. With Rabada being the leading wicket-taker for Punjab last season, Moody believes that he could be a valuable asset to the team and suggests giving him the new ball to take powerplay wickets.

IPL 2023 is off to a great start, with exciting matches and thrilling performances from some of the world’s best cricketers. As the tournament progresses, teams are strategizing and planning their next moves to secure their spot at the top of the leaderboard. Punjab Kings are no exception, and with their upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals, former Australian player Tom Moody has some interesting insights to share.

Nathan Ellis

Punjab Kings emerged victorious in their opening match against Kolkata Knight Riders, despite missing their star bowler Kagiso Rabada. With the South African fast bowler back in the mix, Moody believes Rabada is a straight swap for Nathan Ellis in their upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals.

Moody further explains that opening bowler Rabada should be given the new ball to take early wickets, a crucial tactic against their upcoming opponents. Meanwhile, former Indian wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta has some advice for Punjab’s openers, particularly young Prabhsimran Singh, on how to tackle the challenge posed by Royals’ speedster Trent Boult.

Dasgupta advises the Punjab openers to wait for Boult’s full and swinging deliveries and open up a bit to be ready for that particular ball. He also suggests that even if they don’t score much in the first over, it’s alright, as Boult won’t bowl the third if he hasn’t taken a wicket in the first two overs.

Kagiso Rabada

As Punjab Kings gear up for their second match against Rajasthan Royals, fans are eagerly waiting to see how their strategies will play out on the field. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, April 5th, at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, and is sure to be a nail-biting encounter between two fierce competitors.
