Rajasthan Royals vs Punjab Kings Match Highlights
Punjab Kings (PBKS) led by Shikhar Dhawan, continued their winning streak as they defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by five runs in an IPL match held in Guwahati. Dhawan led the team from the front and remained unbeaten on 86 off 56 balls, which helped Punjab set a challenging total of 197/4 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Along with Dhawan, Prabhsimran Singh also contributed significantly by providing an explosive start, adding 90 runs for the opening wicket with Dhawan before getting dismissed for 64 off 34 balls. Later, Dhawan formed another 50-plus partnership with Jitesh Sharma (27 off 16).
The Rajasthan Royals decided to send R Ashwin to open alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in response to Punjab’s strong total. Unfortunately, the experiment proved to be unsuccessful, as Rajasthan lost Yashasvi, Ashwin and Jos Buttler in the powerplay. Sanju Samson then came to the crease and tried to steady the ship. Nathan Ellis was in fine form and took four wickets for Punjab, keeping things under control. However, some lusty blows by Shimron Hetmyer and impact player Dhruv Jurel gave Rajasthan hope. In the end, Sam Curran bowled an exceptional final over to secure two vital points for his side.
