IPL 2022, LSG VS RCB: Calm & Composed Bangalore Triumphs

LSG vs RCB, the 31st match of Tata IPL 2022, was about Royal Challengers registering their 5th win of the tournament by 18 runs to rise up in the points table at the 2nd position.

LSG vs RCB Highlights:

KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

RCB Innings:

Royal Challengers Bangalore could not get the ideal start as the opener Anuj Rawat departed for 4 off 5. Virat Kohli soon followed him after experiencing a golden duck.

Glenn Maxwell changed the flow of the match by hitting some quick boundaries and sixes, but Jason Holder’s astonishing catch sent him back into the dressing room and dragged RCB on backfoot.

Maxwell scored 23 off 11 before making way for Prabhudessai. At 44-3, RCB needed a big partnership, but Prabhudessai failed to realise his potential and only managed 10 off 9 in the LSG vs RCB contest.

While wickets kept tumbling from one end, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis secured the other end and started gaining momentum. He found an able partner in Shahbaz Ahmed and constructed a 70 run stand with him for the 5th wicket.

An unfortunate run-out sent Shahbaz back, but it brought the man in the form Dinesh Karthik to the crease. Faf and Karthik accumulated quick runs for their team and propelled RCB to a respectable total of 181/6 in 20 overs. Faf equalled his highest ever score in IPL of 96.

LSG Innings:

Lucknow Super Giants were rattled by the Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood during the powerplay. They lost Quinton de Kock and Manish Pandey for insignificant scores against Hazelwood.

KL Rahul tried to forge a partnership with Krunal Pandya to bring Lucknow out of troubled waters, but a last-second review by the Royal Challengers found him knicking a ball down the leg to the keeper.

Rahul scored 30 off 24, and his dismissal brought Deepak Hooda on the crease. Pandya and Hooda looked solid for a few overs, but Hooda could not really get going and ultimately departed for 13 off 14.

Following Hooda, Krunal Pandya, too, mistimed one and found himself walking back to the dugout. Pandya scored 42 off 28, and others after him could not keep up with the required run rate in LSG vs RCB clash.

Ultimately Lucknow fell short by 18 runs after managing only 163/8 in its 20 overs.
