IPL 2023 | CSK vs RR: Ajinkya Rahane Credits Training Sessions for his Fastest Half-Century of the Tournament and Hopes to Make a Comeback in International Cricket

Ajinkya Rahane's Unbeaten 61-Off-37 Helps Chennai Super Kings Beat Mumbai Indians with a 7 wicket margin.

Ajinkya Rahane’s phenomenal performance at the recent CSK vs MI IPL match did not go unnoticed. In a stunning innings, the Chennai Super Kings batter hit the fastest fifty of the ongoing tournament, scoring 61 off just 27 balls, which included seven fours and three sixes. This innings has led to Rahane smashing MS Dhoni’s 11-year-old record in his stormy innings versus the Mumbai Indians. He is now recognized as the Chennai batter who has achieved the second-fastest fifty in CSK history, in just 19 balls, with Moeen Ali doing so in 19 balls against Rajasthan Royals last season, and Suresh Raina scoring the fastest 50 for the franchise in 16 balls against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2014.

In a post-match press conference, the veteran batter said, “I know my strengths and my timings, so I just want to back myself. It’s all about reminding myself that I can be Ajinkya Rahane and play like Ajinkya Rahane, and as long as I can do that, I’ll be fine.”

Rahane credits his domestic experience and training in the CSK camp for his season’s fastest fifty, and his remarkable innings has led to him finding his mojo back after a couple of silent seasons. He believes in backing himself and his talents and recognizes his strengths and the timings that work best for him. By doing so, he may remain confident and focused on what he can manage.

He revealed that he created his game plan after getting a feel for the pitch while fielding. He then applied this understanding to his batting to effectively navigate the conditions. Overall, the Chennai batter demonstrated shrewd tactics and successful execution to accomplish his desired objective. Rahane’s statement, “When we were bowling, I got an idea of how the wicket was playing, so that helped me a lot while batting,” highlights his focus and determination.
