During a match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, Chahal experienced a moment of fear as he witnessed Dhoni’s power-packed performance.
Chennai Super Kings were chasing a target of 176 runs, and they found themselves struggling in the middle order. Dhoni arrived at the crease when the team was 113/6 with five overs remaining. He took his time and rotated the strike against the dangerous spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, but then shifted gears towards the end, smashing Adam Zampa for a six and a four in the 18th over and hitting two back-to-back sixes against Sandeep Sharma in the final over of the match.

Although Chennai Super Kings fell short of the target by only three runs, Dhoni’s unbeaten knock of 32 off 17 deliveries was applauded by cricket enthusiasts. Chahal, who was the star of the show with the ball for Rajasthan Royals, spoke about his nerves during the final moments of the game, stating that he was growing afraid with every extra delivery Dhoni faced.

Chahal revealed, “When he was there, Mahi was there in the last over and you know he is going to finish the game for you, so yeah, it was kinda scary.” Chahal, who was at short third man in the final over, had his fingers crossed and was praying to god and Mahi Bhai, “Please don’t do this today, next match hit 6 sixes if you want, but please not today.”
Thanks to Chahal and Ashwin’s crucial performance, the Rajasthan Royals managed to bag a narrow 3 runs win over their opposition and climbed to the top of the points table.
