RCB captain Faf du Plessis played an impactful innings of 62 runs off 33 deliveries in RCB’s last match against CSK while chasing a massive target of 227 runs. His 126 runs partnership with Glenn Maxwell [76(36)] almost won the match for RCB.
However, the captain looked in serious pain while batting. Actually, Faf injured his rib while fielding during the match against CSK.
“Early on in the match, I was diving around and I thought I went at it with my rib, that was the cause of discomfort,”
He added: ”I lost a little bit of power towards the end, was disappointed as I got stiff.”
During his knock, he was seen getting heavily strapped around his stomach after the 13th over. Though the extent of the injury is still unknown, a few reports state that Faf is likely to be rested in RCB’s next match against PBKS on April 20.
Assessing their bowling performance, where they were taken to the cleaners in the middle overs yet again, du Plessis commented:
“I felt it was 10-15 too many. We went for a few runs to the short boundary to Dube. Last four was set up to be finished but we could not finish unfortunately. It is just one of those wickets where you bowl the first few balls and you figure out how good it is going to be.”
RCB succumbed to their second defeat in three matches, which puts them in the seventh position with four points after five matches.
