IPL 2023 | KKR VS RCB: Jason Roy Urges Teammates to Keep their Confidence High for the Second Half of the IPL

Roy reflects on KKR's underwhelming start to the tournament and says, "We got to draw a line in the sand".

Jason Roy, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) star opener, has spoken out about the team’s lackluster performance in IPL 2023, stating that they need to approach the second half of the season with a fresh mindset. Currently ranked eighth on the points table with two wins in seven matches, the team has not had the best start to the tournament. But Roy, who was brought in as a replacement for Shakib Al Hasan, has been a bright spot, scoring 102 runs in two matches despite the four consecutive losses.

In an interview before KKR’s upcoming match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 26, Roy urged his teammates to remain confident and not lose hope. He stated that it is easy to lose confidence in short-format cricket and urged the team to keep pushing and enjoying themselves, keeping their methods consistent.

Roy also spoke about his performance in KKR’s recent loss to Chennai Super Kings, where he scored 61 off 26 balls. He explained why he came out to bat at no. 6 instead of his regular position as an opener, saying that he had left the field for 12 minutes at the end of their innings, and that he could not bat for the next 12 minutes when their innings began.

Despite the team’s poor form, Roy is optimistic and believes that they need to draw a line in the sand and move forward. He urged the team to keep their heads high and push forward, saying that they have had some good individual performances, and that they need to keep their confidence high. KKR will play against RCB in Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium tonight, and fans will be hoping that Roy’s optimism and positivity will inspire the team to turn their fortunes around.
