Devdutt Padikkal, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter, opened up about the team’s defeat to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the recent IPL match. Despite a promising start to the chase, RR could not finish the game in their favor, losing by 7 runs. In a post-match conference, Padikkal admitted that it was just one of those days when the pressure got to the batters, and they failed to capitalize on a good start.
The Bengaluru-based franchise had set a challenging target of 190 for RR, with Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis scoring half-centuries. Padikkal was the highest run-scorer for the Royals with 52 runs. He claimed that the pitch was good for batting and the team was confident of chasing the total. However, they faltered under pressure, and it just wasn’t their day.

Despite the loss, Padikkal commended the team’s bowling efforts, especially in the second half of the innings. Once Maxwell and du Plessis were dismissed, RCB’s scoring rate considerably slowed down, and they managed only 28 runs in the last five overs. Padikkal credited the bowlers for keeping the team in the game, saying that they did really well towards the end of the innings to restrict RCB to below 200.
RR’s next challenge will be against the formidable Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 27. With a new match on the horizon, Padikkal will hope to continue his good form and contribute to the team’s success. The Royals will look to bounce back from their defeat and make a statement against the table-toppers.
