IPL 2023 | DC vs GT: Delhi Capitals’ Batting Coach Pravin Amre Reveals Why Axar Patel is Batting Down the Order in this IPL Edition

Pravin Amre Highlights the Importance of Axar Patel's Ability to Play Finisher's Role and Optimistic About DC's Comeback in IPL 2023

Delhi Capitals (DC) have been struggling to find a reliable finisher in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. However, their batting coach, Pravin Amre, believes that they have the perfect player in Axar Patel, but they are holding him back to play the finisher’s role.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel has been in exceptional form this season, playing some match-winning knocks for DC. However, the team management has sent him down the order, below number 6, despite his consistency with the bat.

In the recent game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), DC lost wickets in clusters after a good start, but yet again, Axar Patel was sent in at number 7. He tried his best, scoring an unbeaten 29 runs in just 14 balls, but it wasn’t enough to save the game for his team.

Pravin Amre spoke to reporters about the decision to hold Axar Patel back and utilize him as a finisher. He said that Axar has the ability to finish the game and has hit the highest number of sixes for DC this season. Therefore, they have to hold him back sometimes to play the finisher’s role.

DC is currently at the bottom of the IPL table with just two wins under their belt. However, Pravin Amre is optimistic about his team’s chances of making a comeback. He said that many teams have made comebacks after a poor start in the IPL, and anything can happen in the tournament.

Axar Patel

DC will face Gujarat Titans (GT) in their next game on May 2nd, and they are hoping to improve their middle-order batting and finish strongly. With Axar Patel’s exceptional form and his role as a potential finisher, DC could turn their fortunes around and move up the IPL table.
