IPL 2023: Karun Nair Replaces Injured KL Rahul in the Lucknow Super Giants Squad for Remaining Matches

Lucknow Super Giants bring in Karun Nair to fill the void left by the injured KL Rahul for the remaining matches of IPL 2023, with Krunal Pandya taking over the captaincy.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have announced that Karun Nair will replace the injured KL Rahul for the remainder of IPL 2023. Rahul suffered a thigh injury during a game against Royal Challengers Bangalore and has been ruled out of the tournament. Nair, who was released by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022, will join the LSG for INR 50 lakh.

Karun Nair, a 31-year-old right-handed batter, has played for several IPL teams, including Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 76 IPL games, Nair has scored 1496 runs with 13 fifties and an average of 23.75.

Krunal Pandya will take over as captain for LSG’s upcoming game against Gujarat Titans on May 7. LSG is currently in the top four with five wins in ten matches and 11 points. In their last match against Chennai Super Kings, they recovered from a perilous position of 44-5 to post 125-7 thanks to Ayush Badoni’s unbeaten fifty. But apparently the match ended in no result and both the teams shared a solitary point.

With Nair joining in, LSG will hope to continue their good run in the tournament and make a strong push for the playoffs. Fans will be eager to see how the new captain will lead the team and whether they can maintain their form in the upcoming games.
