IPL 2023: Virat Kohli Makes History with 7000 Runs in IPL, Becomes First Ever Batter to Achieve This Milestone

Royal Challengers Bangalore's Virat Kohli reached a significant milestone in his IPL career by becoming the first player to score 7000 runs in the tournament. Kohli reached this landmark during RCB's match against Delhi Capitals, where he also completed 1000 runs against the same opponent.

Virat Kohli, the ex-captain of Indian cricket team and the poster boy of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), made history on Saturday by becoming the first batsman to reach 7000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). During RCB’s match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi, Kohli achieved the milestone in his 225th IPL innings, and in the process, also became the first player to score 1000 T20 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC).

Kohli’s 7000 runs have come at an impressive average of 36.59, including 49 half-centuries and 5 centuries, all while playing for RCB, his IPL team since the league’s inception in 2008. Shikhar Dhawan, with 6536 runs, is second on the all-time run scorers list, far behind Kohli. In 2016, the 34-year-old Kohli had also set the record for the most runs scored in a single edition of IPL, with 973 runs, which helped him secure the Orange Cap, awarded to the tournament’s top scorer.

His highest score against the Delhi-based team is 99, which he scored in the 2013 season.

Virat Kohli’s fans and cricket enthusiasts alike took to social media to congratulate the batsman on his historic achievement, and it is a testament to his skill, dedication, and longevity in the sport.
