IPL 2023: Nehal Wadhera Praises Suryakumar Yadav’s Batting Skills after Impressive Knock against RCB

Mumbai Indians batter Nehal Wadhera says he couldn't replicate Suryakumar's shots in the match as the duo partnered to take MI to a third win while chasing a 200+ target in IPL 2023.

Nehal Wadhera, the young gun of Mumbai Indians (MI), recently revealed his experience of playing alongside the renowned batter Suryakumar Yadav in their recent match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 9. The young batter credited Yadav for his unbeaten knock of 52 runs off 34 balls that helped the team chase a target of 200 runs with ease.

In a post-match presentation, Wadhera disclosed that he tried to copy some of Yadav’s shots, but couldn’t play like him. The two batters added a partnership of 140 runs off 64 deliveries and chased the target with 21 balls to spare, which became the third-highest partnership for MI in tournament history.

Wadhera expressed his contentment with his performance, saying that he enjoys batting in the top order, which helps him play long innings. He further stated that batting up the order gave him a chance to score back-to-back fifties and to help his team’s performance and result.

The young batter also revealed that they had planned to finish the match early to improve their net run rate, which could affect their play-off chances in the ongoing edition of the IPL. He further acknowledged Suryakumar Yadav as a top-quality player, admitting that he learned from him after he played a scoop shot, which he didn’t use to play before.

MI’s win over RCB has elevated the Rohit Sharma-led team to third place in the 10-team points table. They have successfully chased the 200+ target three times in their last four matches. The MI is set to take on the Gujarat Titans (GT) in their upcoming match at their home ground on May 12.
