A four-wicket haul from Yuzvendra Chahal was completely overshadowed by an exhibition of power-hitting by Yashasvi Jaiswal as Rajasthan Royals made a mockery of the 150-run target that Kolkata Knight Riders set up for them.
Venkatesh Iyer scored 57 off 52 balls which took KKR to a score of 149/8. Jaiswal then came in and took the chase by the scruff of the neck, hitting 26 runs off the first over and never looking back after that. He broke the record for the fastest ever IPL fifty, bringing it up in 13 balls.
Sanju Samson came in and joined the party while Jaiswal slightly took the foot off the pedal which meant that he couldn’t get to a second century of the season.
Jaiswal took RR over the line with a four, ending the match on 98 off 47 with 12 fours and five sixes. Sanju Samson at the other end was unbeaten on 48 off 29 and the partnership between them ended on 121 off 69 balls.
