Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has harshly criticized Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi for his stance on the Asia Cup 2023. The legendary all-rounder chastised Sethi for constantly changing his stance on the continental showpiece tournament. Afridi also believes that the Men in Green should travel to India for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which will be held in October and November.
It should be noted that the BCCI previously argued against sending Team India to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, insisting that the competition be held in a neutral location.
However, PCB is determined about holding the event on their soil, or at least a portion of it under ‘Hybrid Model’. However, Pakistan board chief Najam Sethi suggested this week that the Asia Cup be held in England, which has enraged most former cricketers.
Pakistan and India are known as arch-rivals due to their shared historical roots, and cricket fans on both sides of the border eagerly await their matchup.

This game serves as the Asia Cup’s backbone, pitting the continent’s top teams against one another. As a result, Najam Sethi is doing everything he can to get India to compete in the Asia Cup in 2023. He even proposed playing in England, which enraged many people, including Shahid Afridi.
Afridi told Samaa TV, “Najam Sethi should understand that it’s a big responsibility being a chairman of PCB. That’s why he shouldn’t change his stance continuously. Sometimes he is saying to organise it somewhere, now he is saying about playing Asia Cup in England. I don’t get it. He doesn’t need to give interviews everywhere.”
“Why are they saying ‘we will not go India ‘ for World Cup 2023? Take it as a positive, cricket is happening, ask your players to go win the World Cup and tell them that the whole nation is with them. Winning WC in India would be a great triumph and a huge slap (on India),” Afridi added.
