Given that the BCCI has invited Sri Lanka Cricket President to the IPL 2023 playoffs, where talks about the tournament will also take place, it appears that the current impasse over the future of Asia Cup 2023 may finally come to an end as early as this week.

The Indian cricket board reportedly sent SLC president Shammi Silva an invitation to the T20 league playoffs, which will begin on May 23 in Chennai.

While the first qualifier and elimination round will take place in Chennai, the second qualifier and championship round will take place in Ahmedabad.

“We have been invited to witness IPL Play-Offs in India and during that trip, there will be discussions on the Asia Cup 2023. Nothing has been decided yet. But, I think the fate of Asia Cup 2023 will be decided over the next week or so. ” SLC Silva was quoted as saying telling Sri Lankan media.

The continental tournament’s future became uncertain when the BCCI refused to send its team to Pakistan, the event’s host, citing security concerns and a refusal from the Indian government to grant permission.

However, the Men’s ODI World Cup, which will be held in India later this year, has been threatened with a boycott by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in response to earlier threats.

It meant that the competition could be moved to a neutral site, something that PCB still vehemently opposes.

Najam Sethi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, recently revealed that he has proposed a hybrid model for the Asia Cup, in which Pakistan will play its matches at home while India can play at a neutral site.

This Saturday, May 27, the BCCI will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM), during which, according to reports, it will discuss Pakistan’s proposal.

According to recent reports, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are also in favor of a neutral location.

According to PCB, there is no reason why India shouldn’t agree to play in Pakistan after other nations like Australia, England, and New Zealand recently completed successful tours of the nation.
