The United States of America (USA) left former New Zealand batter Corey Anderson out of their 15-man squad for the World Cup 2023 Qualifiers, which will be held in Zimbabwe from June 18 to July 9.

Anderson, who once held the record for the fastest ODI century, relocated to Dallas in March 2020. He only recently became eligible to play for the United States. Anderson also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Mumbai Indians (MI). He scored an unbeaten 95 runs off 44 balls with nine fours and six sixes against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2014 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

The 14-man squad that played in Namibia earlier this month was retained by the USA national selectors. Abhishek Paradkar, a left-arm fast bowler, was also named as the team’s 15th member.

Smit Patel, who previously played for India A and India U19 before moving to the United States, is also a member of the USA squad. He also played for the Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2021.
