The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the prize money for the World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle, with a total purse of $3.8 million to be split among the nine teams.

The Ultimate Test between Australia and India will begin on June 7 at The Oval in London, with the victorious team set to take home more than just the WTC mace.

The winner of the ICC World Test Championship 2023 Final will receive $1.6 million, while the runner-up will receive $800,000.

The tournament prize money remains unchanged from the inaugural edition of the championship (2019-21), with a total purse of $3.8 million.

Kane Williamson’s New Zealand were awarded $1.6 million in Southampton in 2021 after defeating India by eight wickets in the rain-soaked six-day WTC final.

The $3.8 million purse will be split among the nine teams, with South Africa receiving $450,000 for finishing third in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 standings. England, which finished fourth despite a late surge, will receive $350,000.

Sri Lanka, who were among the top teams vying for a spot in the decider during the epic finale, finished fifth and earned $200,000 in prize money.

The remaining teams, New Zealand (No.6), Pakistan (No.7), the West Indies (No.8), and Bangladesh (No.9), will each receive $100,000.
