Reports indicate that the highly anticipated three-match One-Day International (ODI) series between India and Afghanistan, originally scheduled for June, has been postponed by mutual agreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

India vs Afghanistan ODI series to be postponed: Reports

In a recent development, the much-anticipated ODI series between India and Afghanistan, which was initially set to take place in June, has reportedly been postponed. The BCCI and ACB have reached an agreement to reschedule the series, which was originally slated for three matches between June 23 and June 30.

This postponement comes as a relief for the Indian team, as they will now have a well-deserved break after their participation in the two-month-long Indian Premier League (IPL). Additionally, the team is currently focused on preparing for the World Test Championship clash against Australia at The Oval in London, beginning on June 7.

Initially, the Indian team was expected to face Afghanistan after the WTC final, but the series will likely be rescheduled to July 12, coinciding with the multi-format away series against the West Indies.

Although an official confirmation is still pending, a senior BCCI official stated, “Yes, there will be a break after WTC Final. We are still trying to fit in the Afghanistan series. But at this stage, it looks difficult with the broadcaster deal and the West Indies tour. So, it’s the perfect window for the players’ rest.”

With the series being postponed, the Indian team can now benefit from some much-needed rest after their extensive IPL campaign. Their focus remains on the upcoming World Test Championship final against Australia, while plans for the West Indies tour are being finalized.

The exact rescheduled dates for the India vs. Afghanistan series have not yet been disclosed by either board. However, it is expected that the series will likely take place before the start of the upcoming Asia Cup.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan is currently engaged in a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in which they won the first match convincingly but faced a heavy defeat in the second game.
