ICC ODI World Cup 2023: ICC Chief Says Still Waiting for India to Confirm the Schedule

ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is all set to take place in India this year in October and November, but the schedule for the tournament is yet to be announced. The Board of Cricket Council of India is yet to come up with a solution for the Asia Cup 2023 and ICC ODI World Cup 2023 ties with Pakistan.

The schedule of the previous two ICC ODI World Cups was announced more than a year in advance, but for the 2023 ODI World Cup, the ICC is yet to announce the schedule even though the tournament is just four months away. Currently, the qualifiers for the tournament are being played.

There were reports that highlighted that the ICC would announce the schedule of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 during the World Test Championship Final 2023. However, the latest statement by ICC Chief clarifies that the cricket fraternity could have to wait a bit longer for the schedule to be announced.

ICC Chief Latest Statement on ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Schedule:

“I think even today (Wednesday) we might be receiving the schedule from the hosts, and we’ve just got a bit of consultation to do with all the participating teams and the broadcasters. Then we’ll be publishing that as soon as we possibly can,” Allardice said. “When we put on events, we very much work hand in hand with the hosts.

“And in some places, there’s a lot of consultation that needs to take place, both within the cricket system and with governments, etc. There’s a lot of responsibility on a host to deliver a good event, and they’ve got to go through the right checks and balances.”

“Until I see the schedule… I’m waiting, and I’m hoping that I’ll see something in the next day or two on that,” he said. “Our events team is very experienced at putting on cricket events in all different countries, and you control what you control.
