WTC Final Day 4 Highlights: Kohli-Rahane Push India to 164/3 at Stumps

India still need 280 runs to win the WTC Final

Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli formed a crucial partnership of 71 runs to keep India’s hopes alive in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. This partnership helped India reach a total of 164/3 at the end of the day’s play, leaving them with a challenging target of 280 more runs for victory.

In the earlier stages of the innings, Rohit Sharma provided a strong start alongside Shubman Gill, contributing 41 runs off just 44 balls in their opening partnership. Subsequently, Rohit and Cheteshwar Pujara added 51 runs off 77 balls before both batsmen were dismissed in quick succession.

Kohli and Rahane then stabilized the innings after the setback caused by the double dismissal. Shifting focus to Australia’s second innings, Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc batted effectively to prevent India from bowling them out for the second time in the match. Australia eventually declared their innings at 270/8. To secure the WTC Final mace, India will need to break the current record for the highest successful run chase in Test cricket history.
