England paceman Ollie Robinson has expressed unwavering confidence in his team’s ability to win the Ashes series against Australia on home soil. Robinson emphasized that England will continue with their aggressive style of play throughout the remaining matches, even if they find themselves trailing 2-0 in the series.

In a thrilling encounter at Edgbaston, Birmingham, led by Ben Stokes, England suffered a narrow two-wicket defeat against Australia. Pat Cummins’ side completed a remarkable 281-run chase in the fourth innings of the match, captivating spectators with an enthralling contest.

In his column for Wisden, Robinson assured that England would bounce back in the upcoming second Test, despite facing pressure.

“I have faith in this team that even if we went 2-0 down, we could still win 3-2 because of the style of cricket that we’re playing. We want the public to be invested in us, and we want to win games for them,” stated Robinson.

He added, “If they continue to support us, I promise they’ll be rewarded, and what seems like a 2-0 deficit could turn into a 3-2 victory, resulting in one of the greatest series ever. One thing I can guarantee is that we will come back stronger and stronger.”

Robinson made a significant impact with both bat and ball in the Ashes 2023 opener. He contributed an unbeaten 43-run partnership with former captain Joe Root for the ninth wicket. In the first innings, he scored 17 runs off 31 balls and followed it up with 27 runs off 44 balls in the second innings.

The 29-year-old also made valuable contributions with the ball, claiming key wickets in challenging situations. He dismissed centurion Usman Khawaja, finishing with figures of 3-55 in the first innings. In the second innings, he took two wickets, including Cameron Green.

The Ben Stokes-led team will face Australia in the second Test of the five-match series at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, commencing on June 28. England is expected to field a four-seam attack in their playing XI, while Mitchell Starc may replace Scott Boland in Australia’s bowling lineup.
