The Australian batting maestro Steve Smith has achieved a monumental feat in Test cricket, surpassing the legendary names of Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar, Younis Khan, and Sunil Gavaskar to reach the top of an elite list. He has become the fastest player to score 32 centuries in Test matches, in terms of innings played.

This remarkable accomplishment came during the ongoing second Test of the highly anticipated Ashes 2023 series against England at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Smith’s batting prowess was on full display as he left the England bowlers clueless and struggled to contain him.

Coming to the crease after the early dismissals of Usman Khawaja (17) and David Warner (66), Smith exhibited exceptional skills in challenging batting conditions. He capitalized on every scoring opportunity and played elegant strokes with finesse.

Smith’s impressive innings concluded with a magnificent 110 runs off 184 deliveries, including 15 boundaries. This remarkable century marked his 32nd hundred in Test cricket, drawing him level with Steve Waugh for the most centuries by an Australian player. He now sits only behind the iconic Ricky Ponting, who has an astonishing 41 centuries to his name.

By achieving this feat in just 174 innings, Steve Smith has claimed the record for the fastest player to score 32 Test centuries. He surpassed Ricky Ponting, who took 176 innings to achieve the milestone. Sachin Tendulkar (179), Younis Khan (194), and Sunil Gavaskar (195) also hold esteemed positions in this illustrious list of cricketing greats.

Smith’s exceptional batting prowess and his ability to consistently score centuries have firmly established him as one of the finest batsmen of his generation. With this extraordinary achievement, he has etched his name in cricketing history, leaving a lasting legacy that will be remembered for years to come.
