Brendon McCullum's Old Video of Attempting Alex Carey-like Dismissal Goes Viral After Jonny Bairstow's Controversial Run-Out

The Australian team’s decision not to withdraw the appeal in the Bairstow incident has drawn widespread criticism, leaving fans disappointed with the conduct of the World Test Championship winners. The controversial remarks made by MCC members resulted in their suspension. England captain Ben Stokes expressed his disapproval, stating that he would have withdrawn the appeal and preferred not to win in such a manner.

England head coach Brendon McCullum also commented on the dismissal, saying, “We are not going to have drinks with the Aussies anytime soon.”

In response to the criticism, Australian media shared videos of Jonny Bairstow attempting a similar run-out on day 3 of the Test. Furthermore, a video of Brendon McCullum dismissing a batsman using the Alex Carey route has surfaced on the internet, resulting in fans trolling McCullum.

The video dates back to the 2009 Champions Trophy, where McCullum executed a similar dismissal against England’s Paul Collingwood. Collingwood was given out by the third umpire before then-captain Daniel Vettori withdrew the appeal.

England and Australia are set to face off at Headingley, Leeds on July 6 in the next match of the series.
