The Asian Cricket Council has announced that Pakistan and Sri Lanka will co-host the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup. The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 17. However, the detailed schedule for the matches has not yet been released.
The reason behind the delay in revealing the complete schedule for the Asia Cup is attributed to the weather conditions in Colombo. Initially, Colombo was highly favored to host the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match. However, due to the expected heavy monsoon rainfall during that period, there is a possibility that the match could be relocated to Dambulla.

In the upcoming Asia Cup, India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group, along with Nepal. The second group, known as the ‘Group of Death’, consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, who will compete for two spots in the Super-4 stage.
Unlike the previous edition held in the UAE, this tournament will be played in the One Day International (ODI) format. India emerged as champions in the last ODI-format Asia Cup, securing their record-breaking 7th title. Sri Lanka clinched the previous edition of the tournament, which was played in the T20 format, by defeating Pakistan in the final.
