Ajinkya Rahane had a fruitful IPL season with Chennai Super Kings which helped him crawl his way back to the Indian Test team set-up. He scored a fighting half-century in the World Test Championship Final and appeared to be India’s best batter in the game.
Rahane was sidelined from the Indian team in 2022 after his unproductive batting in the past couple of years. However, he has made a resounding comeback and is ready to take the world by storm. Interestingly, Rahane is named the Indian vice captain for the Test series against West Indies and this has raised many questions about Indian team’s planning for the future.
Rahane was speaking at a press confrence in Dominica ahead of the first Test against West Indies, when a reporter asked him about his comeback at this age. Rahane, who is 35 responded in a quick manner and made the reporter shut up.

“Is age mein matlab? Main abhi bhi young hoon. Abhi bhi bohot cricket baki hai mere mein.(What do you mean by at this age? I’m still young. There’s still a lot of cricket left in me),” Rahane said to the reporter.
“I had a good IPL, I scored runs in domestic cricket too. Batting-wise, I got a lot of confidence. I have worked a lot on my fitness in the last 1 and a half years. Right now, I’m enjoying the kind of cricket I’m playing and not thinking too far ahead. Each and every match is important personally as well as for the team,” he further added.
Rahane is in good nick and he wants to continue playing for a long time to come.
