Yuvraj Singh, the former all-rounder, expressed his uncertainty about India’s chances of winning the ODI World Cup 2023 in their home country. During a candid conversation on the YouTube channel ‘Cricket Basu’, Yuvraj shared his unimpressed views on the current state of Indian cricket.
“I am actually not sure to be honest if they are going to win the World Cup, I can say like a patriot that India will win. I see a lot of concerns in the Indian team in the middle-order because of injuries. It is frustrating seeing them (India) not to win a world Cup but it is what it is,” Yuvraj Singh said.
Yuvraj Singh openly acknowledged that the Indian squad has been struggling due to issues with team combinations. He didn’t hesitate to emphasize that this factor has been a significant drawback for the team. “We have a sensible captain, Rohit Sharma. They should get their combination right. We need a couple of games to get ready. We should have a pool of at least 20 players to pick a squad of 15 out of,” he added.

Yuvraj Singh commented on the preparations leading up to the World Cup, stating that while the top order of the Indian team seems to be in good shape, there is a pressing need to address the middle order. He emphasized the significance of slots 4 and 5 in the batting lineup, suggesting that if Rishabh Pant is batting at number 4 for his IPL franchise, he should also be given the same position in the national squad. Yuvraj emphasized that the number four batsman should not just be a flashy run scorer, but someone who can handle pressure and absorb it effectively.
