India captain Rohit Sharma has faced significant criticism following the team’s failure to secure an ICC title. With his impressive track record as the leader of Mumbai Indians in the IPL, many had high hopes for Rohit to end India’s drought in ICC tournaments. However, the team has fallen short under his captaincy, suffering heavy defeats in two major competitions.

In the T20 World Cup last year, India faced a crushing 10-wicket loss against England, followed by a 209-run defeat to Australia in the WTC final last month. Rohit Sharma has been under fire from fans and former players alike in the aftermath of the WTC final loss. As he prepares for the Test series against West Indies, he was once again questioned about India’s recent failures in ICC tournaments.

When asked about the reasons behind the team’s poor performance, Rohit Sharma candidly addressed one of the key factors contributing to their struggles. The skipper emphasized the importance of having all key players available for selection, without any injury concerns.

“Firstly, I want everyone to be available. All my players, I want them to be available 100 percent. I don’t want any injury concerns. That’s first and foremost,” Rohit Sharma stated.

He also highlighted the significance of consistently playing good cricket and maintaining a positive mindset. While acknowledging the team’s accomplishments over the years, Rohit Sharma emphasized the role of luck in winning championships.

“Over the last five-six years, we have achieved a lot of good things. It’s just that sometimes you want luck to be on your side as well. We have won in many places, but winning championships is also important. Until we secure that championship, we will continue to fight hard for it,” Rohit Sharma added.

The first Test of the two-match series against West Indies is set to begin on July 12 in Dominica, followed by the second Test in Trinidad from July 20 to 24. This series marks the start of India’s campaign in the third cycle of the World Test Championship.
