Rohit Sharma has etched his name in cricket history by joining his compatriot Virat Kohli in an exclusive club of elite performers. On the second day of the Dominica Test match against West Indies, Rohit achieved a remarkable milestone as he became only the second batsman, after Kohli, to accumulate over 3500 runs in all formats of international cricket.
With a single off Jomel Warrican in the 49th over, the right-handed batsman secured his position in this esteemed group. Rohit Sharma, who began opening the innings in Test cricket in 2019, has consistently showcased his prowess and determination on the pitch.
Prior to reaching this milestone, Rohit Sharma was just 63 runs away from the 3500-run mark in Test cricket. As it stands now, he boasts an impressive record of 3500* runs in Tests, 9825 runs in ODIs, and 3853 runs in T20Is.

While the dynamic batsman had already established himself as a formidable force in white-ball cricket since 2013, he faced challenges in securing a consistent role in the red-ball format. However, his fortunes changed when he was entrusted with the opening position in Test matches four years ago, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Virat Kohli, the first player to achieve the milestone of 3500 runs in all formats, remains the leader of this exclusive pack. Kohli’s illustrious career boasts 8479 runs in Tests, 12898 runs in ODIs, and 4008 runs in T20Is. Remarkably, Kohli stands alone in the history of T20Is as the only batsman to surpass the 4000-run mark.
