The much-awaited cricketing event of the year is the ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to take place from 5th October to 19th November. India is the host country for the tournament, and all the matches will be held at 10 different venues across the nation.
The 2023 ODI World Cup will witness the participation of 10 teams, competing in a round-robin format. Each team will play against all the other teams in their group. After the league stage, the top four teams on the points table will advance to the semi-finals, and the winners of these matches will battle it out in the final to determine the ultimate champion.
For India, it marks a significant milestone as it hosts the tournament on its own for the first time. In the past, India co-hosted the competition with Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, but this time, they will independently host the entire event.
On June 27th, the ICC officially released the World Cup schedule, comprising 48 exciting games, including the semi-finals and final. With this step completed, the responsibility now lies with each participating nation’s cricket associations to provide their respective squads.
