Tamim Iqbal, the veteran left-handed opener for Bangladesh cricket team recently announced a surprise retirement from all forms of international cricket after a defeat against Afghanistan. Iqbal was the captain of Bangladesh ODI team when he made the shocking announcement.

No one from Bangladesh team saw it coming and everyone was left stunned as the captain of the team decided to hang his boots before the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which is scheduled to be played in India from 5th October 2023.

Tamim Iqbal revoked his retirement after the Bangladeshi PM urged him to lead the team in the upcoming World Cup. Tamim Iqbal shared an Instagram post and announced that he will continue to play for the Bangladeshi team. However, conflicting reports have started to emerge and there are again doubts creeping up about Tamim Iqbal’s participation in the World Cup 2023.

It is no secret that Tamim Iqbal is dealing with a back injury and this was one of the prime reasons behind his retirement announcement. According to the sources, the back injury is expected to worsen over time if Tamim continues to play without seeking a surgical treatment.

However, if Tamim Iqbal opts for surgery he will definitely miss the ODI World Cup 2023. There is a possibility of him playing the World Cup while fighting the back Injury but that could lead to unwanted outcomes for his body.

In summary, Tamim Iqbal’s participation in World Cup 2023 is still very much debatable.
