In the drawn fourth Test, he added four more wickets, and in the first innings of the fifth Test at The Oval, he secured two wickets.

With the ICC World Cup 2023 approaching, and Mark Wood’s current outstanding form, the English team management has made a significant decision regarding the fast bowler. To protect him for the marquee event, Mark Wood will sit out The Hundred tournament. England is determined to ensure that he remains fit, especially with Jofra Archer already sidelined due to an elbow injury.
While this decision may be a blow for The Hundred, which has already lost several other prominent players ahead of the third edition, it also poses a challenge for London Spirit. The team has already suffered the loss of Olly Stone to a hamstring injury this week. Additionally, Cricket Australia has withdrawn Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh from the competition.
