KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will miss the upcoming India tour of Ireland series due to not being fully fit. Both players are currently recovering from their respective injuries at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and are focused on achieving full match fitness.
While they will miss the IND vs IRE series, it is highly likely that both KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will be available for selection in the India squad for the Asia Cup 2023. KL Rahul, being the designated wicketkeeper for India in ODIs, is expected to retain his spot behind the stumps. Shreyas Iyer will also be looking to secure his place in the team during the Asia Cup and prove his worth for the upcoming ICC World Cup.
The BCCI and selectors were hopeful of their return for the Ireland series, but it seems that the duo needs more time to recover completely before they can participate in international games. However, the good news is that both players are progressing well in their rehabilitation, and they are expected to be fully fit in time for the Asia Cup. KL Rahul had a hamstring injury during IPL 2023, which required surgery, while Shreyas Iyer had a back stress fracture and also underwent surgery.

Overall, India’s injured contingent is making good progress, and there is optimism that they will be available for crucial upcoming tournaments. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are on track to return to action and contribute to India’s campaign in the Asia Cup.
