Jasprit Bumrah has made his return in style for the upcoming Ireland Tour. He has been named the captain of the Indian Cricket Team for the Ireland Series. Bumrah will lead India in the three-match series. Interestingly, BCCI has decided to send a relatively younger squad. Both Hardik Pandya and Surkyakumar Yadav have been rested. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are not involved in T20 plans this year as BCCI wants them to focus on ODI cricket due to the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to be played in India in October and November 2023.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will serve as the deputy of Bumrah in the Ireland Series. He is named the vice-captain. Even Shubman Gill has been rested, and this makes it seem that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad will open the batting for India in this Series. Young wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma is also in the squad. However, Sanju Samson is the primary wicketkeeper batter. Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan will serve as the fast bowling options for Bumrah other than himself in the squad.
Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed and Ravi Bishnoi are the three spinners that have been selected for the Ireland Tour. IPL heroes Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh are also given an opportunity in the Ireland Series. Who will be the eleven players that will represent India on the field is yet to be seen.
