Amidst speculation regarding their potential dismissal, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to retain foreign coaches Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn until the ICC World Cup 2023. Misbah-ul-Haq, the newly appointed cricket committee chief and former Pakistan captain, expressed his reservations about foreign coaches but emphasized the importance of avoiding sudden changes to the coaching staff. He acknowledged that while past decisions made by former PCB chief Najam Sethi might not have been ideal, it would be unwise to remove both coaches simultaneously.

Misbah stated, “I am against foreign coaches, but sacking them all at once would be unwise.”

Mickey Arthur took on the role of “director” of the Pakistan cricket team in April, entrusted with the responsibility of designing and overseeing strategies. Later, he brought in Grant Bradburn as the head coach for a two-year term. Initially, there were speculations that Misbah, not in favor of foreign coaches, might remove the coaching panel appointed by the previous administration. However, Misbah now believes that the coaching staff should be given time to prove their worth, and their performance will be evaluated after the World Cup.

Additionally, there were rumors of considering ex-chief secretary Punjab, Naveed Akram Cheema, as the team manager for the World Cup. Cheema is known for his strict demeanor and disciplinary approach, but the current Pakistan cricket team does not have any players likely to cause problems for the manager or the team administration.

The good performance of the Pakistan team has also played a role in the new management’s decision to refrain from making drastic changes. As a result, Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn will continue to guide the Pakistan Cricket Team during the highly anticipated World Cup in India.
