India is preparing for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA and has introduced a significant change to their squad. Jasprit Bumrah is set to make a comeback after nearly a year, taking on the role of both a player and captain. This decision reflects India’s interest in identifying potential leaders within the T20I team. Bumrah will lead the Indian squad in a three-match T20I series against Ireland in Malahide. Ireland, along with Scotland, secured spots in the upcoming T20 World Cup, compensating for their absence in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

India’s tour of Ireland will commence with the first game scheduled for August 18th at Malahide’s Village Ground. The second T20I will follow on August 20th, and the series will conclude with the final T20I on August 23rd, all taking place in Malahide. In the previous year, 2022, under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, India played two T20 International matches against Ireland. The final game saw Ireland coming close to victory, but India managed to secure a four-run win.

Jasprit Bumrah will lead a youthful Indian squad in this series, introducing newcomers like Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma. Bumrah’s promotion as a leader indicates the Indian management’s uncertainty and exploration of leadership options for the upcoming T20 World Cup. With Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja having been absent from the shortest format for a while, the team might opt for a fresh and young lineup in the T20 World Cup. Ireland will be led by Paul Stirling in this series against India. Viewers can catch the live broadcast of the series on Sports 18 TV and Jio Cinema on digital platforms.
