Prasidh Krishna to be in India's Asia Cup 2023 Squad

Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim, providing commentary with JioCinema, has identified Prasidh Krishna, the right-arm fast bowler, as a strong contender for India’s Asia Cup squad later this year. Prasidh Krishna, aged 27, is currently making his comeback for the Indian team during his T20I debut against Ireland in Dublin. He had been out of the national team for about a year.

During the first T20I match of his international career on August 18, Prasidh Krishna achieved his maiden wicket by dismissing Harry Tector in the second over of his spell. His fifth-over delivery was a fierce bouncer, leading the batter to attempt a ramp shot to the third man region, but Tilak Varma at short third managed to take a simple catch.

In the seventh over of Team India’s innings, Prasidh Krishna bowled a back-of-a-length delivery that seamed in from off stump. George Dockrell, the batter on strike, aimed to take charge but could only offer a catch to Ruturaj Gaikwad at cover, resulting in the hosts being reduced to 5-31.

While commenting on Ireland’s batting innings during his stint with JioCinema, Saba Karim expressed his admiration for Prasidh Krishna’s performance in his return to the Indian team. The 55-year-old commentator speculated about Krishna’s chances for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and stated, “Prasidh Krishna to be a strong contender for India’s Asia Cup squad.”

By the end of his bowling spell, Prasidh Krishna achieved figures of 2-32 in four overs. Among Team India’s bowlers, Ravi Bishnoi and stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah excelled by taking two wickets each with an economy rate of six or less. Despite their efforts, Ireland managed to post a decent total of 139/7 in their allotted 20 overs, largely thanks to Barry McCarthy’s half-century at number eight in the batting order.
