Shreyas Iyer has just returned from a major back injury and has already picked a back spasm due to which he was left out of India’s playing 11 against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023 Super Four.
Iyer is included in the World Cup 2023 squad but there is a huge possibility that he may not get a single match in the upcoming tournament.
KL Rahul was played in place of Shreyas Iyer at number four in the match against Pakistan and he looked good at this slot.

If Rahul scores big against Pakistan then he would surely be a starting member of the Indian playing 11 while Iyer would have to wait for his opportunity.
Team India does not believe in making many changes during the World Cup and this may lead Shreyas Iyer to sit out of the entire tournament.
However, if Ishan Kishan fails in a next few matches then Shreyas Iyer could play at number four while KL Rahul could go back to his number five slot.
