During the Wednesday showdown in Rajkot, the third ODI match against Australia witnessed Jasprit Bumrah shining as the standout bowler for the Indian cricket team, scalping three crucial wickets. Although the fast bowler found himself on the losing side, his stellar performance served as a significant morale boost for India in anticipation of the Cricket World Cup 2023.

Skipper Rohit Sharma expressed his satisfaction with Bumrah’s display and underscored that the fast bowler is in excellent physical and mental form. Bumrah’s return to action after a substantial hiatus due to injury has been a major positive for the Indian cricket team. Rohit emphatically emphasized that a solitary subpar performance would not deter Bumrah’s resilience and impact.

“I’m pretty happy, more importantly how he (Bumrah) feels body-wise, he has got so much skill, one bad game can happen to anyone. How he feels mentally and body-wise is key for us and that’s looking good for us,” Rohit said at the post-match ceremony when asked about Jasprit Bumrah’s form.

Rohit Sharma holds a high level of contentment regarding his team’s World Cup preparations and prefers not to attach excessive significance to the 66-run loss to Australia in the concluding match of the three-match ODI series.

The skipper affirmed that both he and the team’s management, led by coach Rahul Dravid, have a crystal-clear vision concerning the 15-member squad that will shoulder World Cup responsibilities.

The formal announcement of the final squad is anticipated to take place on Thursday, September 28.

“The last 7-8 ODIs we’ve played really well in different conditions. We were challenged at different times and we took that challenge really well. Unfortunately, not the result we wanted today but I’m not going to look too much into this game. We’ve been playing really well,” the skipper Rohit Sharma said at the post-match presentation.

Rohit Sharma has been consistently delivering with several half-centuries in recent matches, and his form was evident as he displayed fluent batting during his impressive knock of 81 on that particular day.
