Australia’s star opener, David Warner, achieved a remarkable milestone in the ICC World Cup 2023 opener against India, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Warner’s achievement came as he became the fastest batsman to amass 1000 runs in ODI World Cups.

In the clash between India and Australia at the ICC World Cup 2023, David Warner contributed 41 runs to his team’s total. While it may not have been a massive individual score, Warner’s innings was significant. He struck 6 fours during his stay at the crease, facing 52 deliveries.

Despite scoring 41 runs in the IND vs AUS match, David Warner reached an impressive milestone in ODI World Cup history. Warner achieved the distinction of being the fastest player to accumulate 1000 runs in ODI World Cups, accomplishing this feat in just 19 innings.

This achievement puts him ahead of cricketing greats like Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers, who both took 20 innings to reach the 1000-run mark in ODI World Cups. Viv Richards, a West Indies legend, is the fourth player on this list, achieving this milestone in 21 innings. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly also took 21 innings to achieve the 1000-run mark in ODI World Cups.

In the IND vs AUS match, which took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first. Although Australia lost opener Mitchell Marsh early, with Jasprit Bumrah dismissing him for a duck, Warner, alongside Steve Smith, contributed significantly to the team’s score. By the end of the 37th over, Australia had reached a score of 140-7, with Cummins and Starc at the crease.
