Jofra Archer was included in the reserves for England Cricket Team despite dealing with an injury. The English management wanted to use the abilities of Jofra Archer at one point of a time in the ongoing World Cup 2023. However, it seems that is not going to be possible.
England’s left-arm pacer Reece Topley has been forced to exit the ongoing World Cup in India due to an index finger fracture sustained while attempting to stop a ball off his own bowling during a match against South Africa in Mumbai. Topley briefly returned with taped fingers to take two more wickets, but scans have now confirmed the severity of his injury.
Brydon Carse has been named as his replacement, having gained approval from the ICC Events Technical Committee. Carse had previously featured in 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is for England between 2021 and 2023.

This unfortunate injury is another setback in Topley’s career, marked by a series of unfortunate incidents. In the lead-up to the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, he suffered a bizarre injury while tripping over an advertisement hoarding during catching practice near the boundary, resulting in ligament damage.
Prior to that, Topley had struggled with a series of stress fractures in his back, leading to surgery. His return to form had been a challenging journey before he became a key player in England’s white-ball setup.
Throughout the ongoing World Cup, Topley managed to capture 8 wickets, making him England’s leading wicket-taker despite missing a previous game. Unfortunately, his tournament has come to an end due to this latest setback.
Jofra Archer, who was with the squad in India but is also on injury rehab, has been ruled out as a replacement by head coach Matthew Mott.
