India is scheduled to play New Zealand of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 semifinal at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata, India on 15th November 2023. Both teams are looking to get the win in order to reach the finals. However, what will happen if the rain washes out the game? Below is everything you should know.

The semi-finals now include a precautionary measure against rain by introducing a reserve day. Should persistent rain prevent the completion of the required minimum overs for a decisive match on the reserve day, the rule stipulates that the team with a higher position in the league stage points table will progress to the final.

Applying this guideline, in the scenario of a washout in the IND vs NZ semifinal, India would secure a spot in the ODI World Cup 2023 final. Similarly, if the semi-final between South Africa and Australia experiences a washout, the team concluding as No. 2 on the points table would advance to the final.
