Team India Semi-Final Records & Stats ODI World Cup

India is set to make their fourth consecutive appearance in the ODI Cricket World Cup semi-final as they prepare to face New Zealand on Wednesday, November 15, at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The match, scheduled to commence at 2:00 PM IST, is generating heightened anticipation among fans eager to witness the tournament’s thrilling action.

Reviewing India’s track record in ODI World Cup semi-finals, the team has qualified for the last four in eight out of their 13 appearances (1983, 1987, 1996, 2003, 2011, 2015, 2019, 2023). Out of the seven semi-finals played, India emerged victorious in three instances and faced defeat in four encounters. Notably, India secured the ODI World Cup trophy in 1983 after triumphing over England in the semi-finals.

Batting great Sachin Tendulkar holds the record as India’s highest run-scorer in ODI World Cup semi-finals, amassing 233 runs in three matches. Despite not registering a century in a World Cup semi-final, Tendulkar’s impactful performances, including a valiant 65 against Sri Lanka and a stroke-filled 83 against Kenya, played crucial roles in India’s progress.

Former captain Sourav Ganguly remains the sole centurion for India in a World Cup semi-final, achieving this feat with an unbeaten 111 against Kenya in the 2003 ODI World Cup. In the bowling department, legends Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan jointly hold the record for the most wickets in World Cup semi-finals.
