The India vs Australia T20 series is just a week away, but the Indian squad remains a mystery as the BCCI selection committee refrains from announcing it. InsideSport has learned that the squad will likely be named on Monday, Nov 20, and all players have already been informed. They are expected to assemble in Visakhapatnam on Nov 21.
With Hardik Pandya injured and Suryakumar Yadav set to be rested, Ruturaj Gaikwad emerges as the frontrunner to lead the team. The BCCI initially planned to announce the squad after an update on Hardik Pandya. If Pandya had been fit and played in the Cricket World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav would have led in the IND vs AUS T20 series. However, since Yadav is playing in the World Cup, he will be rested for the India vs Australia series.

This decision leaves the captaincy position vacant, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who led India to an Asian Games gold medal, is considered the prime contender to lead in the IND vs AUS T20 series. Besides Gaikwad, players like Sanju Samson, Prasidh Krishna, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and others from the Asian Games squad are expected to make up the squad for the Australia series.
