Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli to Not be Part of T20 World Cup 2024? Here is the Answer

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were fantastic throughout the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 for Team India. However, despite their best efforts India could only come second in the competition. Australia extinguished the hopes of Indian fans with its phenomenal cricket on the day of final.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were seen getting emotional after the loss and many fans have assumed that this was their last ODI World Cup together. However, no announcement has been made by any of them on the matter. For now the focus is on T20 World Cup 2024 which is just seven months away.

Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli to Not be Part of T20 World Cup 2024? Here is the Answer

T20I World Cup 2024 is going to be played in West Indies and United States of America. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli has not played a single T20I match for India since the T20 World Cup 2022 in which India lost the Semi-Final against England. The ten wicket loss in the Semi-Final made BCCI decide to go with a young set of players in the shortest format of the game with Hardik Pandya as the captain.

Unfortunately, Hardik Pandya got injured in the recently concluded ODI World Cup and is expected to miss a few months of action. He may even miss the T20I World Cup as well. There is just no relief for Hardik Pandya from the injuries. Now, it has become crucial for the management to have a strong presence with the experience in the team.

BCCI has squashed the rumours that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli was dropped from the T20I squad. They have clarified that both of them were not playing T20Is to concentrate on the ODI World Cup 2023.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to make a comeback in the Indian T20I squad soon. There are a few rumours going around that Rohit Sharma could possibly retire. Even if that’s true Rohit Sharma is expected to continue playing the T20 format of the game. Now, everything rests on BCCI regarding the future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in T20Is.

Team India is currently preparing for the T20I Series against Australia which is scheduled to be played from 23rd November 2023. Suryakumar Yadav is captaining the team in the series as most of the senior players are rested.
