As the premier T20 tournament in India is three months away, discussions around the IPL have intensified, fueled by the recent announcements of retained and released players by the participating teams for the upcoming season.
The IPL 2023 marked a grand return to the home and away format after three years of COVID-19 protocols. Gujarat Titans, the champions of IPL 2022, dominated the regular season with 10 wins and four losses, securing the top spot. In contrast, Sunrisers Hyderabad struggled, finishing tenth after managing just four wins.

Looking ahead to IPL 2024, the trade window preceding the December 19 auction stirred excitement with blockbuster moves. Notably, Gujarat Titans’ captain, Hardik Pandya, made a significant return to his initial IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians, in an all-cash deal.
To facilitate this transfer, Mumbai Indians parted ways with their most expensive player, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, in a similar all-cash deal with Royal Challengers Bangalore. Green is poised to potentially debut for Bangalore against Chennai Super Kings in the opening game of IPL 2024 on March 22 in Chennai.
