“I’m completely in favour of Mankading,” Says Future Indian Star

Arjun Tendulkar says that he is in favour of mankading.

Mankading came into the limelight when Ravi Ashwin used the practice in IPL against Jos Buttler in 2019. Since then, there has been a lot of talk about the ethical reasoning behind mankading and ICC has recognised it as a form of dismissal. Yet many cricketers compare it with a cheap practice and don’t like to be associated with it.

In the recently concluded, India vs Sri Lanka ODI series Rohit Sharma took back the appeal when Mohammed Shami mankaded Dasun Shanaka on 98. This resulted in both praise and criticism for the Indian cricket team captain. Now, a young Mumbai Indian player and one of the future stars of Indian cricket has spoken in favour of mankading.

Arjun Tendulkar, the son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar has expressed his views of makading. He claims that mankaded is a recognised form of dismissal, and there is nothing wrong with it. However, the budding Indian bowler also said that mankading is not meant for him as his run-up does not support the idea of mankading and it’s juts too much effort.

Here’s what Arjun Tendulkar said about Mankading:

“I’m completely in favour of Mankading. I personally won’t do it because I can’t stop and remove the bails in my run up. I won’t waste my energy in it.”
